Premier League – Probably the best league in the WORLD!!!

Regardless of where you live, the Premier League has huge commercial attraction in all corners of the world and here is why. This article is to give you an overview of what I personally think to be the BEST football league in the world, and why!

Is the Premier League the best League in the WORLD!!!

Even though there are no statistics to prove that the Premier League is the BEST in the WORLD, we cannot ignore the fact that it attracts the BEST players in World football (minus the amazing Lionel Messi), also the fact that both European Finals in 2019 are all Premier League teams. Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League Final and Chelsea v Arsenal in the Europa League Final – Wow, this is a huge statement of intent by the quality of Premier League football and shows how difficult it must be to actually win the league title, let alone win it back-to-back as Manchester City did in 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

There are no easy games in the Premier League, that’s a fact! In the 2015/16 season Leicester City beat all the odds to lift the title from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs). This wasn’t a strong season for the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd or even Arsenal but you have to give Leicester all the praise they truly deserve for playing the game with passion, skill and energy that just blew teams away. I could write about the growth of individual players such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante all day.

So, when you consider the above and the fact that the top four teams which can generally be any from the likes of Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal, at some point they may have lost/drawn to teams that have been relegated in that season, this just outlines how tough each game is, it’s high intensity and physical demands prove too much for some players from other leagues, such players take at least a season or two to make the adjustment to premier league football, it’s just that much faster than any other league football you will ever watch. Every match brings excitement, sweaty palms and edge of your seat experiences for their fans.

Since it’s Birth

The UK’s Premier League was established in 1992, consists of 20 teams each paying 38 games in any one season. It attracts huge TV rights across the Globe and as such attracts huge billionaire investors.

Since the tragic events of Hillsborough in April 1989 where 96 people lost their lives and a further 700 were injured, something had to change and so the Premier League process commenced. Certain clubs had threatened to leave the football league before the Hillsborough disaster and form a Super League, a switch that eventually took place in 1992 to create the Premier league.

This meant stadium improvements, no more railings/fencing between the supporters and the pitch and massive changes regarding all seated stadiums by 1994. The top flight in English football was now a product which has continued to thrive every year since attracting some of the worlds best Players and Managers

Personnel of Past and Present

It goes without saying that this League definitely attracts the best players and managers, see below for just a few examples of its history.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester Utd
  • Thierry Henry – Arsenal
  • Roy Keane – Manchester Utd
  • Ryan Giggs – Manchester Utd
  • Steven Gerrard – Liverpool
  • Frank Lampard – Chelsea
  • Patrick Vieira – Arsenal
  • Eric Cantona – Manchester Utd
  • David Silva – Manchester City
  • Wayne Rooney – Manchester Utd
  • Dennis Bergkamp – Arsenal
  • David Beckham – Manchester Utd
  • Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
  • Luis Suarez – Liverpool
  • Didier Drogba – Chelsea
  • Eden Hazard – Chelsea
  • Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
  • Virgil Van Dijk – Liverpool
  • Sadio Mane – Liverpool

Also the Premier League now attracts the worlds best Managers with the likes of:

  • Pep Guardiola – Manchester City and rated as probably the best football manager in the World
  • Jurgan Klopp – Liverpool, a highly rated Manager with passion and a drive wanted by many clubs
  • Rafael Benitez – Newcastle Utd and ex Champions League winner with Liverpool
  • Mauricio Pochettino – Tottenham Hotspur, you only need to speak to a Spurs fan to get their thoughts on Poch, a fantastic manager that has taken Tottenham to a Chamions League final in 2019, finished 4th in the League and all without having their own stadium. Amazing and a huge future, that’s for sure!

I could go on and on about the quality of this League but I hope you are starting to agree with me. It just has to be the best league in the world, second to none, in my opinion of course.

Derby Matches

What can I say but get ready for a battle because the Premier League hosts many Derby Matches, from:

  • Man City v Man Utd
  • Merseyside Derby
  • Midlands Derby
  • North East Derby
  • Many other Derbies depending on promotion/relegation battles

Besides the usual derby matches there are also big rivalries between for example:

  • Liverpool v Man utd
  • Man Utd v Newcastle
  • Liverpool v Arsenal
  • Chelsea v Arsenal

Of course these change yearly depending on who gets relegated and promoted each season but believe me, you can never call the winner in these matches, it really could be any one of them.

Press

There is never a dull moment in British football, it will take you literally seconds to find anything on footballers and their WAGs. A term created by the Press for footballers partners.

Conclusion

So, in summary of this article, I hope I have given you a brief understanding of why I feel the Premier League is the best football league in the world. 1) It attracts the best players 2) It now attracts the best Managers 3) The Game is played at a fast and physical pace creating the perfect spectacle for any fan and 4) Both European League Finals have Premier League teams representing it, but also Five of the last Champions League Finals have had PL teams involved. I rest my case!
